Mark stopped breathing and experienced clinical death lasting 2 to 2.5 hours. He felt a tremendous power pulling him out of his chest area, surrounded by powerful wind and rushing water, feeling like he was drowning. An angel or guardian angel spoke to him saying "Breathe, it's all right to breathe, you won't drown," and he found he could breathe underwater. After the wind and water subsided, he found himself floating inside his body. During the extended experience, he passed through a tunnel, encountered deceased persons including his grandmother and a friend from school, saw an unearthly bright light, and entered clearly mystical realms including both heavenly and hellish landscapes. He experienced every emotion imaginable, from incredible peace and joy to distressing hellish imagery. He heard the voice of Jesus, gained understanding about the universe, had a life review, saw scenes from the world's future, and reached a boundary he was not permitted to cross before being sent back. The experience profoundly changed his life, eliminating his fear of death and greatly increasing his compassion and religious faith.
