Rita fell approximately 17-20 feet from a tree while climbing with her brother at a church softball game. The last thing she remembered before falling was seeing a woman in a gold sweater sitting on a bench below. After hitting the ground, she appeared in another universe with tall angelic beings (10 feet) who were very kind. She then found herself floating in front of her father who was running scared from the softball game. Next, she looked down watching people huddling over her body. When she opened her eyes, the woman in the gold sweater covered her with the same sweater. At the hospital, despite brain trauma causing temporary amnesia, she could accurately answer the doctor's questions about her fall. She told her brother she had gone to a circus and seen people on trapeze flying. Years later, watching Oprah's show about life after death, she realized her "circus" experience matched typical NDE descriptions.
