On October 20, 1983, Margaret was stopped at a red light with her daughter in the passenger seat and granddaughter in a car seat when she was hit from behind. She heard the explosive sound of impact and suddenly found herself in bright light experiencing complete inner peace with no fears or wish to return. She was told twice "the baby must not die," referring to her granddaughter. Despite refusing to return, she was sent back and found herself in the driver's seat again.
