Twelve-year-old Liam was playing with friend Darren in an overturned dinghy, swimming underneath to an air pocket. When Darren jumped on top, Liam was sucked to the bottom in the vacuum created and pinned underwater. He swallowed water, fought desperately, then gave up as his body failed. He experienced calm euphoria as he drifted off. His entire life flashed before him at light-speed - every second, interaction, word and action, seeing how he affected others and what they thought of him. After the life review, he drifted into a dark void where euphoria turned to terror with thoughts of permanent annihilation. At this point Darren pulled him out by his hair and he felt himself rushing back into his body. He spent minutes coughing up water and told his story to a skeptical Darren. The experience left him fearing death more than before, believing in annihilation rather than afterlife.
