Krista experienced a life-threatening amniotic fluid embolism during childbirth on July 17, 2000, causing her heart to stop at 9:18 AM. While undergoing emergency cesarean delivery, she suffered cardiac arrest and was declared clinically dead. During this time, Krista found herself floating above her body, observing the medical team working frantically below. She could see someone in blue performing procedures on her abdomen, quickly handing a bundle to another person, while medical staff placed equipment on her chest. Although she wanted to stay and observe what was happening, an invisible force began pulling her leftward with tremendous power. Understanding the importance of this calling, Krista made a conscious choice to let go and found herself moving at incredible speed through a space of static and fluid-like matter filled with infinite, unbounded love. This love permeated her being completely, creating perfect bliss, peace, and contentment. During this experience, she received answers to all her life's questions except one. Krista then encountered a realm with shadowy human-like figures, including a little boy resembling Tom Sawyer who wanted her help to return to the physical world. Though she initially wanted to help, she became overwhelmed by their collective need and chose to leave. She then entered a beautiful landscape resembling Eden, with vibrant yellow flowers, a sparkling waterfall, crystal pool, rolling green hills, blue sky, and dark evergreen forest. In this place, she felt complete oneness with everything around her and was given three choices: enter the forest, continue beyond her current reality, or return to her body with a mission to serve others. Her pulse returned at 9:26 AM after eight minutes of clinical death. The experience involved multiple medical professionals including a cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeon who happened to be available, and Krista required blood transfusions due to severe bleeding and DIC.
