Ken experienced a near-death event during a severe medical crisis involving internal bleeding. He had been passing blood for several days but delayed seeking medical attention due to work obligations. On the critical morning, he vomited a large amount of blood and collapsed behind a bank building in Dundalk. A woman who knew him saw him lying there but passed by without helping. Ken eventually regained enough strength to drive himself to the hospital, where he collapsed again in the emergency room. During the medical crisis, Ken found himself in a beautiful, otherworldly place that was very real, gentle, warm, sage, loving, and peaceful. He was aware that everyone who had ever lived was present in this realm, including his deceased parents, though he didn't see them directly. He sensed a warm glow of light around him and experienced profound personal peace that was both beautiful and unforgettable. While in this state, Ken felt a strong desire to remain in this beautiful place permanently. However, he was made aware that someone he loved would need him, and he was given a choice to return. Though he didn't know who specifically needed him, he chose to come back to life. Approximately a year later, Ken's partner Patricia's son Anthony developed a rare virus that attacked his brain, likely from a dormant measles virus. This condition typically proves fatal within six to seven months, but Anthony's battle lasted over two years, creating a hellish period for Patricia. Ken was there to support her throughout this ordeal, and he believes this was why he was called back from the otherworldly realm. The experience left Ken with a permanent sense of loss for not going to that beautiful place, yet he remains convinced it was the right decision.
