On August 14, 1979, Julie underwent an emergency C-section due to eclampsia (severe pregnancy complication). During the procedure, she experienced clinical death and was given last rites by medical staff. Julie found herself passing through a bright light-filled tunnel, emerging into a realm of exceptional love and indescribable joy. In this space, she heard a male voice asking telepathically if she was ready to move on, though she could not see the speaker. When Julie responded that she wanted to see and hold her baby first and know its gender, the voice revealed she had a son. Overwhelmed by feelings of love and maternal protection, Julie struggled between wanting to continue forward and needing to return for her child's sake. She ultimately chose to go back, describing this as the hardest decision she ever made. Upon awakening, Julie discovered that she had indeed been given last rites during her critical condition. She also saw a nurse who had been praying over her during the crisis, but when Julie later tried to thank this woman by describing her appearance, no one at the hospital could identify who she was. Julie believes this mysterious nurse was her guardian angel. The experience completely eliminated her fear of death and gave her profound confidence that deceased family members experience the same incredible joy she felt during her brief time in the spiritual realm.
