On June 13, 1965, Helga was in a severe car accident resulting in multiple injuries including abdominal bleeding. She experienced clinical death with cessation of breathing and heart function, requiring CPR. During her operation, Helga was out of her body and fully conscious, able to hear everything the surgical team was saying. She experienced being simultaneously above her body and in the wall, feeling present throughout the entire room, clinic, and even the whole world all at once. This was followed by peaceful silence and a profound sense of wellbeing. A tunnel opened up and she could see, feel, and smell a loving energy where all was love. This state seemed to last a long time before she awoke from a coma two days later. The experience fundamentally changed her relationship with love, transforming her from having little love and compassion to understanding that love is everything - that all there really is, is love. This transformation was life-changing. Helga had a second near-death experience during a 1995 stroke with different characteristics, traveling through a tunnel to a dark place in the distant past, back to the beginning of Earth. Her consciousness during meditation now approaches the state experienced during her NDE.
