At age thirteen, Duane severed an artery in his upper right arm, causing blood to squirt everywhere. Walking a city block home, he grew progressively weaker with each step until completely drained. Sitting on the front porch stoop, he suddenly found himself standing outside his body, watching the scene unfold. He observed his mother and sisters running out screaming, gathering around his body, and carrying him to a car. Throughout this, a woman's voice behind him kept saying "it's going to be alright."
Duane was whisked away and found himself at the hospital, watching them roll out a wheelchair, put him on a table, and cut off his clothes. The woman's voice continued reassuring him. Later, through dreams after acquiring a special cane, he experienced an elaborate vision where he was shown twelve constellations being drawn, looked into a Big Eye in Capricorn, and witnessed progressively larger cosmic structures - twelve suns, galaxies, universes, and megaverses - until surrounded by pure Light. The same woman's voice then told him a creation story through the zodiac, describing how she created the days of the week and gave humanity various covenants. The voice identified herself as "your Mother" and presented an alternative creation narrative involving "Itim" (Adam) receiving a piece of the Tree as a covenant, various biblical figures including Moses and Jesus carrying this tree/staff, and messages about religious history. The narrative suggested Jesus was misunderstood ("you changed his story now he is me") and that the true story was written in the stars. Duane saw visions of beings from different eras and received prophecies about a second sun coming. The experience led Duane to reject traditional Christianity, believing "snakes can't talk and no one can come back from the dead after three days." He developed his own religious system called "Histrology" based on these visions, believing Mother Nature provides for all needs and that human consciousness continues after death. He claims ongoing supernatural experiences and connections to an ancient cane with spiritual significance.
