Dharam, a DJ at Hollywood after-hours parties, mixed ketamine and GHB after celebrating his career success. Within 30-60 minutes, he lost consciousness. His roommate reported he experienced convulsions and his body and face turned blue, indicating a life-threatening medical emergency from the drug combination.
During his unconscious state, Dharam experienced total inner peace, acceptance, love, and beauty. He found himself in brilliant white light incomparable to any earthly vision, brighter than anything he had ever seen. He felt surrounded by the presence of relatives and deceased persons he could not see but whose presence he strongly felt. His aunt Ginny was particularly present, along with possibly his Uncle Ted and Grandma Helen. Though he could only see the white light, he sensed at least seven beings surrounding him. The beings communicated a crucial message: "It's not your time yet, it will be okay" and with particular emphasis, "Don't worry about anything... ever." They delivered this last message with such strength that Dharam understood it was meant for him to take back to life. He felt held and protected as if he were a newborn baby, experiencing intense compassion and love from these beings. The experience gave him knowledge that there is definitely life after physical death and that beings on the other side operate at a higher level of consciousness. Upon return, Dharam immediately wanted to share his knowledge and help others, feeling God had given him a second chance. The experience transformed him from fearful to fearless in living, eliminated his fear of death, and led him to embrace various spiritual practices including Kundalini Yoga, Gnostic Christianity, and Sikh prayers. He developed increased compassion and deeper spiritual connections after the experience.
