Laurie experienced anaphylactic shock from a PCN allergy while shopping at Walmart with her mother. She sent her mother for Benadryl and went to the car, where her condition rapidly deteriorated. Unable to breathe, she managed to say "ambulance" before losing consciousness. During this time, she had a profound out-of-body experience where she felt wrapped in perfect peace and warmth, like floating in a liquid bubble comparable to being in the womb. She watched from outside her body as paramedics placed her on a gurney, feeling amazed but not frightened. The experience was characterized by tremendous serenity and absence of pain. She returned to her body in the ambulance and later recognized the paramedics' faces at the hospital, though she could not have physically seen them while unconscious.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes classic NDE elements consistent with biblical accounts - an out-of-body experience where consciousness separates from the physical body, overwhelming peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), and a warm, comforting presence. The experience of floating and being wrapped in warmth could parallel descriptions of divine comfort and the peace of God's presence. Unbiblical elements: None identified. The experience does not contain any elements contradictory to biblical teaching such as reincarnation, universal salvation, or occult practices. The experiencer maintained Christian faith before and after the event.
