Colleen was ejected from a moving truck and run over, with the tire crushing her head and peeling off nearly half her face and ear. She experienced the pressure of the tire on her head, felt it burst at the top, and was aware of her ear hanging by a string of flesh. Her friend drove her to the hospital, running red lights to save her life. She died during the drive and found herself at her deceased father's house with her mother, uncle, and best friend who had all passed away. Her father, who had died the year before, appeared to glow and looked beautiful but sad. When she said she wanted to stay, he told her she couldn't and asked her to think of her seven children growing up without her. He reminded her of how she had struggled when he died when she was thirty. She decided to return for her children's sake and woke up when doctors shocked her with defibrillation paddles. The doctor confirmed she had been clinically dead for three to four minutes with no pulse, breathing, or heartbeat. Since the accident, the nine months following have been the best time of her life as she pursues her dreams and lives purposefully.
