Claire B attempted suicide with pills and alcohol, hiking into mountains where she was found unconscious 18 hours later. During her coma, she heard hospital alarms and a nurse yelling "She's crashing again!" before finding herself in a strange, unearthly city with three beautiful young women as guides. They took her to a white building where a man transformed her into a beautiful woman through hand movements. She then saw a busy city with many happy people traveling in groups, but noticed her stepbrother who had committed suicide years earlier, sitting alone and unhappy. Her guides told her not to disturb him and could go no further. A man in grey appeared twice, teaching her she could travel by will alone after her car kept breaking down on an elevated freeway. She was found with stopped breathing, unreadable vitals, dislocated hip, pneumonia in both lungs, kidney failure, and was comatose for three days. Doctors said she would likely die or be vegetative. Her sister, a police officer, found defensive wounds suggesting assault. The experience changed her from atheist to considering consciousness survival after death.
