Chad C experienced cardiac arrest after feeling heart palpitations following a nap. His heart beat fast, then slowed to half normal tempo, then stopped completely. He was dead before hitting the floor, with no memory of falling. He found himself moving forward through darkness, unsure if floating or walking, approaching a unique light ahead that didn't brighten its surroundings. He felt he was approaching a cliff edge with many silhouetted people beyond it, shoulder to shoulder, with the light behind them. He sensed these were trying to tell him to go back, though he couldn't see them clearly. He remembered something about his grandmother who passed in 1999, unsure if she was present. Without making a conscious decision, the group got further away and he began sensing his body again as if in two places at once. The darkness faded as he returned to his body, awakening on the floor unable to move with labored breathing. After gaining strength, he crawled to call an ambulance. Paramedics found him with wildly fluctuating blood pressure and heart in fibrillation. After 2-3 hours in the hospital, his heart began beating regularly. He stayed under observation for two days. The experience had no significant impact on his beliefs or fear of death.
