After black mold exposure causing repeated emergency episodes, Carla's heart stopped multiple times requiring defibrillation. During the third episode, she experienced being in a darkened tunnel similar to NYC underground tunnels, 75 feet high and 30 feet across, with groups and individuals walking past in shades of gray. A 1940s gangster-type man with white-wall haircut glared at her hostilely. The tunnel ceiling filled with ethereal butter-yellow light from ahead. She then was in a pitch-black room struggling with at least two unseen beings about staying in her body. She fought to remain, reciting a Catholic exorcism incantation her therapist taught her. She returned shouting the incantation as paramedics, fire crew, and police stood speechless, about to declare her dead. The paramedics said she went from silence to shouting a prayer with blue flame and sword references, making her revival legendary among crews. The doctor confirmed she was the most "gone" patient who returned. She recognized the tunnel from photos she later saw, having never seen them before.
