William was at a California beach with his family during summer 1985. While his family was eating at a picnic area, he walked alone to the beach and entered the murky, kelp-filled water. After wading waist-deep, he turned to check if his mother was watching when large waves repeatedly slammed his face into the sandy bottom, knocking the wind out of him. In full panic with thoughts of death, he suddenly felt very peaceful and calm, hearing a loving male inner voice say "relax and let go." He accepted his situation, feeling he could never truly die because he had always existed and always would. He experienced being in a quiet, still place like a womb filled with amniotic fluid and pure love, where time didn't exist. He felt safer than ever before in his life and told the presence he wasn't scared anymore and was ready, accepting he'd never see his children again. Suddenly he popped up about 30 yards north of where he entered the ocean, coughing and possibly vomiting, with his face scratched and swollen from the sandy impacts. The experience profoundly changed his perception of the universe, though he didn't tell anyone until adulthood. He gained understanding that God exists as pure love energy, that we are all one entity, and that death should not be feared.
