In May 2001, Rhonda awoke feeling extremely dizzy and sick. Despite her condition, she initially tried to lie down on the couch to sleep, but something kept waking her with a strong feeling to call her sister. Though doubting her sister would be home and not wanting to bother her, the nagging feeling persisted until she called. Her sister was home and immediately came with her sons to get Rhonda when she heard how ill she was. A series of remarkable synchronicities then unfolded: a police officer friend of her sister's, who lived 45 minutes away and hadn't planned to visit, felt compelled to drive to the sister's home that morning. Upon seeing Rhonda on the couch, already turned blue, he recognized the emergency, telling the sister to call an ambulance, then immediately deciding there was no time and asking about first responders.
In the ambulance, Rhonda had her near-death experience. She found herself outside her body, able to see both her physical form and the EMT sitting beside her. Remarkably, she could read the EMT's thoughts - he was thinking how terrible it was that she was dying so young and that there was nothing he could do to help her. While in this state, she felt someone near her and wondered if she was dying. A very kind female voice, emanating pure unconditional love far beyond human capability, spoke to her saying "No. That would never be asked of your parents." This was profoundly meaningful as Rhonda's family had lost her 27-year-old brother to cancer just two years earlier. This being, whom Rhonda believes was an angel, told her not to fear, that nothing was wrong with her. The angel said they would run many tests but would find nothing, and emphasized again not to fear. The medical crisis turned out to be an anaphylactic reaction to Biaxin, a common antibiotic. Rhonda experienced clinical death with cessation of breathing or heart function. As the angel had predicted, extensive medical tests were performed but found nothing wrong beyond the allergic reaction. The encounter with the angelic being left Rhonda with profound changes: she transitioned from greatly fearing death to having no fear of it at all, from moderate religious importance to great spiritual significance, and from moderate to great compassion for others. She gained temporary psychic abilities, particularly the ability to know thoughts of others and things affecting her family. The pure, unconditional love Rhonda experienced from the angel was transformative. She described it as all-consuming, all-forgiving love that no human could ever match - like looking into your child's eyes for the first time but magnified a million times. Everything the angel told her came to pass exactly as stated. The experience gave her direct knowledge of God's existence and the reality of the afterlife, transforming her from someone who probably believed to someone who definitely knows. She now attends religious services more regularly, does more for others, and lives with the constant awareness of God's complete unconditional love.
