Paula experienced a severe attack of pancreatitis while at work, with her pancreatic enzyme levels reaching an extraordinary 70,000 when normal levels are 6-100, indicating a life-threatening medical emergency. The extreme pain led to an ambulance being called, and while on the gurney, she began her remarkable near-death experience. She saw a tunnel of bright light in the distance and felt herself floating towards it. Initially, the tunnel was dark as she entered, but it became progressively brighter as she traveled through it. All her physical pain completely disappeared, replaced by an incredible sense of peace, love, and a feeling of all-knowing understanding.
At the end of the tunnel, Paula entered a realm of pure light where she encountered multiple deceased individuals she had known in life. She saw her father, nephew, grandmother, other in-laws, and a friend who had passed away. Her grandmother played a particularly significant role, holding Paula's hands, stroking her face with tenderness, and delivering the crucial message that Paula had to return because it was not her time yet - she was still needed on Earth. This encounter was especially meaningful as it connected to a previous experience when Paula's father was dying; just before he passed, he had told them he saw Paula's nephew, who was the first to greet Paula in her NDE. The beings she encountered appeared to be made of the same light that filled the realm, and communication occurred through direct thought transfer rather than spoken words. As Paula traveled back through the tunnel toward her body, she felt her physical pain returning and intensifying with each moment. The contrast between the pain-free state in the light and the return of physical suffering was stark and memorable. This experience profoundly transformed Paula's religious and spiritual understanding. She now believes that religion is worthless and just a game people play, while God is purely about love - an all-consuming, all-forgiving love that no human can match. She described it as being like looking into your child's eyes for the first time, but magnified a million times. The experience completely eliminated her fear of death and gave her certain knowledge that consciousness continues after physical death. Following her NDE, Paula experienced an unexpected artistic gift. She met her mother-in-law in the light realm, someone she had never met on Earth as the woman had died before Paula met her husband. This mother-in-law had been an artist, and despite Paula previously being unable to even draw stick figures, after the encounter she found herself able to paint freelance murals on children's bedroom walls with ease. The experience fundamentally changed her view that earthly life has meaning and significance, understanding now that life's meaning is valued only in love, and that we are all connected as one. She gained the understanding that God's love is pure and unconditional, completely unlike religious rituals or doctrines.
