Nancy was approximately 13 years old attending one of her first girl/boy parties when a young boy accidentally swung a baseball bat and struck her across the temple. She was immediately knocked unconscious from the traumatic head injury. It wasn't until years later, around age 20 after reading Raymond Moody's "Life After Life," that she was able to understand and name what she had experienced during the time she was unconscious. The accidental blow to her temple created a life-threatening situation that triggered her near-death experience.
During her unconscious state, Nancy found herself at a gently flowing river with a small bridge crossing over it. On the other side of this bridge was a magical, colorful land that seemed specifically designed to delight a 13-year-old. The realm was filled with colors she had never seen before, beautiful flowers, playful animals including puppies, and even an amusement park with a Ferris wheel made of candy. The entire landscape was infused with love, acceptance, and peace. She felt an overwhelming desire to cross the bridge and enter this wondrous place that seemed to offer everything a young teenager would find appealing. The vividness and specificity of this otherworldly realm made a lasting impression that she remembers clearly decades later. As Nancy moved toward the bridge to cross into this magical land, a loving female spiritual presence gently floated down from her right side. This being communicated with her telepathically, without spoken words, suggesting that Nancy needed to return and should not cross the bridge to the beautiful land. The presence conveyed that Nancy had things yet to accomplish in her life. Though the being was suggesting she return, Nancy understood that the choice was ultimately hers. The spiritual presence radiated such love and wisdom that Nancy trusted her guidance, despite her strong desire to stay. She knew somehow that this being knew what was best for her. Nancy gracefully accepted the guidance and chose to return, after which she regained consciousness. The experience left her with a complete absence of fear regarding death and a deep sense of life's purpose and meaning. She gained psychic and intuitive abilities, becoming so intuitive that she almost pursued a career helping police find missing children. The experience has remained vivid in her memory over 50 years later, far clearer than other memories from that age period. She was raised in an open-minded, spiritually oriented household that respected all religions, which helped her family be supportive when she shared the experience. Nancy now has profound belief in the afterlife and feels deeply connected to the oneness of all people.
