In 1963, six-year-old Marilyn was playing "Horse & Rider" with cousins when a jump rope was tied around her neck. Her cousin repeatedly tightened it despite pleas to loosen it, cutting off her air supply. She fell down the basement stairs into total darkness, feeling blind and terrified by scary sounds. Then she saw a white light in the distance and felt someone pick her up, surrounding her with light.
She looked into the smiling face of a man who identified himself as Jesus. He had shoulder-length brown hair, dark brown eyes, wore leather sandals with straps, a white gown with long sleeves, and a light blue tunic with gold rope at the waist. His voice was soft, kind, and almost musical, conveying pure love, complete safety and trust. As he carried her up the stairs, the basement wall disappeared on one side, replaced by a beautiful garden with long grass, wildflowers, birds, butterflies, and children playing with lambs. She asked to play with the children but Jesus said there was no time, he had had her too long already. He told her to be good and made her promise to tell the world what she saw, saying when her time comes she could walk in the garden with him. He kissed her forehead at the basement door, said it wasn't her time, and stood her on the floor. She couldn't breathe and was gulping air when her mother and aunt cut the rope off her neck. When asked how she got upstairs, she insisted a man carried her, but no one saw him. Her sister saw her fall and disappear at the stairs. The experience left lasting gifts including knowing when someone will die three days ahead, out-of-body experiences, and exceptional memory. She never forgot the experience and knows heaven exists.
