Loni experienced a ruptured ovarian cyst that led to a life-threatening medical emergency in 1989. After a brief physician visit diagnosed the rupture, she was rushed to the emergency room in intense pain but remained alert and conscious during transport. Once in the emergency room, her blood pressure plummeted to near zero, and she heard the doctor urgently tell her husband and mother, "We're LOSING HER!" This marked the beginning of her near-death experience during a critical medical crisis.
During the emergency, she felt an intense cold and a sensation of "swimming." Her immediate thoughts were remarkably clear: "So this is what it's like to die! No more pain! I should be seeing JESUS!" Within what felt like a nanosecond, she found herself in the presence of Jesus. Though she was not permitted to see anything visually, she experienced unconditional love and acceptance beyond any earthly comparison. Communication occurred telepathically rather than through auditory means. She was told she could stay and that "All is well." In that moment, she had no memories of her earthly life or associations and wanted only to remain forever in the presence of His light and love. Jesus then reminded her of her two special needs children - a 3-year-old daughter with visual impairment and a 9-month-old son with Down syndrome. Without providing details, it was made known to her that their lives would become much more difficult without her, as their father was immature and struggled with family responsibilities. This realization instantly returned her to the emergency room where she was about to undergo surgery. The surgical repair was successful in stopping all bleeding. The experience profoundly impacted her faith, strengthening her conviction while helping her understand the difference between religion and spirituality. She gained what she describes as the ability to detect lies as they are presented to her. Her children's father died in 2005, validating the concern expressed during her NDE about her children's need for her presence. She now shares her experience with dying loved ones when prompted by the Holy Spirit.
