Jim experienced an NDE at age 3 when he fell through ice into a partially-drained above-ground pool during winter. After being pushed or slipping from a ladder while looking at the ice, he found himself underwater looking up through the ice. His next memory was floating about 15 feet in the air, looking down at the front corner of his house from 15 feet away. Everything appeared bluish as if wearing blue sunglasses. He saw the older boy who had been with him run down the driveway, pound on the side door, and keep running. Jim tried to yell at him to get his mother but couldn't be heard, feeling frustrated. His next memory was waking in bed wrapped in blankets with his mother caring for him. She had heard the pounding, investigated, found him in the pool and pulled him out. Remarkably, the experience seemed so natural that he didn't realize it was an out-of-body experience until age 29, having retained these vivid early memories clearly.
