In December 2010, Larry V was hospitalized with sepsis after initially being misdiagnosed with flu. He had experienced several days of flu-like symptoms with fever reaching 106°F and severe chills. After being sent home with flu medication, his condition worsened, and he was readmitted and properly diagnosed with sepsis in the ICU. His wife was warned he might die. On the morning before Christmas Eve, with minimal staff present, Larry experienced clinical death while alone in his hospital room.
Instantly, Larry found himself in a completely opaque, dark void - vast beyond description, containing nothing but darkness with hints of red. He had no physical body, only a vague cloudy mist where limbs should be. The void felt perfect in temperature but filled him with terrible despair and loneliness. He sensed a powerful presence behind him that seemed to keep him in place. Looking back briefly, he saw a rectangular white door-shaped object hundreds of miles away, impossible to reach. He felt he had been judged fairly and was devastated by the realization he would spend eternity alone in this dark place. As despair overwhelmed him, a tiny speck of light appeared in the distance, perhaps a million miles away. This speck grew into a worm-like tunnel that approached him from below. The tunnel appeared carved from rock with a yellowish-tan color, white elements, and charcoal streaks. Once inside, Larry moved rapidly toward a beautiful blue light at the end. He briefly stopped, accepting his death, then continued toward what he thought was sky. The nurse revived him, reporting she had responded to an oxygen alarm and found him unresponsive with no pulse or blood pressure. After recovery, Larry discovered his tunnel matched a 1490 painting depicting the same structure with angels. The experience brought ongoing spiritual messages about love, avoiding judgment of others, and getting to know God. Larry described this as the most real experience of his life, more vivid than any earthly memory, fundamentally changing his spiritual perspective and relationship with God.
