Julian was undergoing an angioplasty procedure via radial approach when he experienced intense chest pain. He could feel the guide wire moving through his arm and chest. Trying to relax to manage the pain, he suddenly felt a zapping sensation. Like someone changing a channel, he found himself in a poorly lit place with light in the background. There were people present though he couldn't identify who they were - it seemed like a reunion. He felt deep, calm peace with no pain. While close to some unidentified people, he was abruptly pulled back - again like a channel change - to see the cardiologist performing external cardiac massage on him. The cardiologist confirmed Julian had suffered asystole (cardiac arrest) during the procedure. He was successfully resuscitated with CPR and atropine administration. Julian realized he had experienced cardiac arrest when he saw the resuscitation efforts. He considered himself fortunate to have survived and been given a second chance at life. The experience left him with a sense of incredible peace, joy, and unity with the universe.
