In August 1981, Jean was hospitalized with Toxic Shock Syndrome, a life-threatening condition that caused her heart to stop beating on four separate occasions. Her cardiologist had withdrawn over 2 liters of fluid from her pericardial sac, but the fluid rushed back within hours, causing her to scream and feel like she was choking. During this critical period, she had two profound near-death experiences that she didn't recall until nearly a year later.
In her first experience, Jean went through a light and was completely saturated in unconditional love - the most wonderful experience she had ever had. She underwent a comprehensive life review focused on her relationships with others, where she felt what they had felt in their interactions with her - their love, pain, or hurt from things she had done or said. During this review, she was her own judge while being surrounded by unconditional love. She was given a choice to go home to heaven or return, and chose to return for her parents who had already lost another child. In her second experience, she found herself in the City of God with a guide in white robes who gave her a tour and answered her questions about religion, revealing that all religions are pathways to the same place. Jean received extensive revelations during her NDEs. She learned that Earth is like a school where souls apply and test spiritual lessons under pressure. She was shown libraries with golden books containing life plans, learned about preset key events in lives, and was given visions of future world events including economic turmoil. She saw different areas of the spiritual city where souls work to inspire people on Earth in science and arts. She also encountered beings of pure light in the Temple of God who embraced her with overwhelming love. Additionally, she saw a darker realm where souls who didn't know they had died fought over material things, with angels waiting above to help any who asked. After her experiences, Jean was in the hospital another 10 days but made a miraculous recovery that astounded her doctors. She came off the transplant list and walked out of the ICU despite having been unable to lift her head without passing out when admitted. The experiences profoundly changed her life perspective - she now lives in the moment, doesn't fear death, and prioritizes human relationships and caring for others above all else.
