John experienced an NDE at age 18, about a month after recovering from a collapsed lung. During sleep, he dreamed of falling from a cliff and upon impact felt he had stopped breathing, realizing he must be dead. Everything went black and he began floating in darkness with initial fear. Then he heard a deafening voice declare "I AM THE ALPHA AND OMEGA THE BEGINNING AND END." A light approached from his right side and immersed him in warmth, taking the shape of Jesus similar to the Shroud of Turin. Jesus called him "Jim" and when questioned, explained a mistake was made and it wasn't his time. John asked about reincarnation and was told he had been Jim Morrison in a past life, but that reincarnation isn't as important as we perceive it - we remain the same soul in different shells. Jesus said he could return at either 37 or 73, possibly from a heart attack at 37. When asked about the world's end, Jesus said only the Father knows. John then descended back into his body feeling like sinking into mud, followed by the most peaceful sleep ever.
