Isabel R, mother of a 2-year-old and wife of a deputy sheriff, had been experiencing pain and suspected pregnancy complications. Her doctor dismissed it as a cold that had settled in her uterus. One Sunday after church, while her husband was at work, she took a bath for pain relief but became dangerously weak. After calling for help and getting her aunt-in-law to come over, she went into convulsions. Her husband arrived, called emergency services, and she was loaded into their car for transport to the hospital 30 miles away. During transport, she had a vision of her husband and son in funeral clothes looking forlorn. She then felt a floating sensation with warmth filling her like hot chocolate, which turned to flying and euphoria. She entered a dark tunnel with beings crying out to her in anguish from the darkness, including two she recognized. A voice warned her not to help them as they could drag her into darkness. At the tunnel's end, she saw spherical lights with bright white filaments inside, extending as far as she could see. The voice showed her the vision of her family in funeral clothes again, explaining that if she didn't return, she would disrupt "the plan" and cause her husband and son unimaginable suffering. She agreed to return and was suddenly back in the car. During surgery, she found herself in a black hallway moving uncomfortably fast, then turned into a room and found herself looking out over the Mississippi River at dusk, seeing cars on the toll bridge. She turned around and floated through a fourth-floor hospital window where her husband was waiting. He later confirmed seeing her appear like "fuzzy TV reception" and pass through the room at 8 PM. Following surgery, she felt overwhelming love for the surgeon who saved her, but learned days later that he had died suddenly of a massive stroke.
