HD was at a bonfire with friends when she and four others decided to try what they thought were drugs but turned out to be synthetic spice. After taking two hits, she experienced severe disorientation with the room spinning, triple vision, and hearing loss. She fell backwards in a T-shape position and initially friends thought she was joking, but soon realized it was serious when she became unresponsive. During her unconscious state, HD experienced her mind going black followed by a replay of all the bad things she had done in her life. She felt paralyzed and trapped, screaming and crying internally while trying to wake up from what she thought was a dream, then realized she was dying. The experience shifted when she saw a bright light and a man standing there who repeatedly told her "This is your last chance, take everything back, take it all back. Think about everything you have done HD, take it all back." Her body began shaking violently as she had a seizure. She mentally reviewed everything she wanted to do in life - go to college, become a chiropractor, see her family again. She desperately called out for her parents and friends. When she felt it wasn't working, she tried to give up and sleep. Then she saw her deceased grandfather who told her to keep trying for him. She told God that dying wasn't what she wanted and that she needed to change. Suddenly she saw another bright light, could hear the outside world again, opened her eyes and sat up to find herself back at the bonfire with friends around her asking if she was okay. She spent the rest of the evening shaking on a bench, wanting to cry, and thanking God for giving her another chance at life.
