Dani was physically assaulted by an ex-boyfriend in January 2009. She was struck in the head with a pistol, which immediately forced her to the ground. He straddled her and continuously beat her head with the pistol, a small guitar, and other items, switching weapons when they became too bloody and slippery. After several strikes with the pistol, her mind went to a dark place with a huge light at the end, like a tunnel. She found herself above her body at ceiling height, behind her attacker, watching him beat her lifeless body. She saw him switching items when they got bloody, kicking her in the face while her hands still protected her face though her inner self had let go. Her eyes were closed and she was totally unconscious. During the OBE, she felt no pain or panic, only strange happiness and peace. She had thoughts like "What is he doing now?" and "When is he going to stop?" She felt calm quietness with muffled yelling from her attacker that she could only understand when focusing on it. She was trying to figure out why he was hitting her body with such anger but couldn't understand him completely, so she listened to the quiet and felt peace. She has no recollection of how it felt during the attack, only visual images of the pain she should have felt.
