Jane went to her doctor for treatment of bronchial pneumonia and received a penicillin injection. Following protocol, she waited 15 minutes in the waiting area before leaving. Within minutes, she felt light-headed with blackness closing in on her vision. She called for help, and the doctor and nurse ran out to assist her. As they guided her back to the office, she collapsed and they eased her onto the floor. The doctor immediately administered adrenaline to counteract the allergic reaction. While unconscious on the floor, Jane sensed herself floating above her body and toward a corner of the room. She watched as the doctor and nurse administered the adrenaline and heard them discussing what had happened. She experienced no extended journey, just the sensation of floating, observing the medical intervention, and listening to their conversation. As soon as the adrenaline took effect, she suddenly felt back in her body. Her husband was notified and waited with her for 30 minutes until she could walk out.
