At age 9, Jamin was struck by a car while crossing the street near Poitiers, France. He was told he did a triple backward somersault from the impact. He experienced an out-of-body experience in the ambulance, seeing his body covered by an orange blanket from above. He then entered a coma (level 3 initially, then 2, then 1) for 11 days with cranial trauma and broken left thighbone. During the coma, he flew rapidly through various landscapes: first black fields of desolation filled with corpses and limbs, then sandy deserts, then a vast meadow with white flowers. Finally, he reached a vivid green hill with a path leading to a gigantic Arabian-Andalusian style door at the top, which diffused an incredibly pure, warm light. He felt complete fusion with the environment and absolute well-being. The light drew him irresistibly, but he made a choice to return. Upon awakening, he immediately told his parents about the orange blanket and the journey.
