Arvind B experienced a near-death experience on February 29, 2012, following a heart attack. Initially dismissing his symptoms as gas, he visited his general practitioner where an ECG revealed serious cardiac issues. He was immediately hospitalized with severe pain in his left arm. After a successful angioplasty with one stent insertion, Arvind initially appeared to be recovering well, giving thumbs up to gathered family and friends and reassuring his wife that he would be home in two days.
However, complications arose shortly after when Arvind suffered cardio-respiratory arrest. He blacked out and began vomiting blood, requiring 11 bottles of blood transfusion over the next 24 hours. His last physical memories were of someone sitting on his chest performing compressions and being wheeled away on a stretcher. During the medical crisis, Arvind found himself floating upward above his body in the operating room. From this elevated perspective, he could clearly see his own body below with many doctors and medical personnel working on him. He specifically noticed the monitor displays were flat, indicating cardiac arrest. Rising to the top of the hall, Arvind became stuck in a corner while feeling surprisingly happy and smiling throughout the experience. He encountered several groups of beings: first, four children aged 10-12 whose faces he could see clearly, then a circle of 8-10 people whose full forms were visible. A huge hole in the center of the hall emitted brilliant light, and Arvind began drifting toward it. As a devout Hindu with deep faith in Goddess Kaalika, he could feel her presence on the other side of the beam of light. Though he couldn't see her, he knew with certainty she was there and felt compelled to bow and try to see her. The experience ended with Arvind regaining consciousness to find his doctor asking how he was feeling. He later learned he had been on a ventilator for five days and news of his death had already spread among relatives and friends. Arvind attributes his return to life to his wife Rinku's unwavering faith and prayers to Goddess Kaalika, noting that while others had begun weeping, she never lost faith and continuously prayed for his return. The experience strengthened his already strong faith and left him with mixed feelings - while grateful to be alive with his family, he now has some fear of death that he didn't have before.
