Annie G experienced a near-death experience in February 1987 during surgery complications. Following an operation, she was unable to breathe independently for unknown reasons, creating a life-threatening situation. During this medical crisis, she suddenly found herself in a tunnel illuminated by strong blue light. The environment was pleasantly warm and filled with endless peace and love. She felt no fear, especially when she heard her deceased grandmother calling her name.
Drawn by curiosity, Annie flew further into the tunnel. The blue light at the end was described as vivid and warm, bright like the sun but more blue in color. At a certain moment, she made a conscious decision to turn right and return to her body. This moment of choice represented her highest level of consciousness during the experience. Immediately upon making this decision, she found herself back in her body with doctors inserting tubes into her. Prior to the tunnel experience, Annie had observed the surgical scene from outside her body. She saw herself lying on the operating table with people standing around her, including her sister-in-law who was assisting in the operation. From this elevated perspective, she could later describe all that transpired during the surgery and accurately detail the contents of the operating room. Additionally, she gained knowledge that a lady had died in the adjacent operating room - information that shocked the doctors when she mentioned it later, confirming the accuracy of her observations. The experience left Annie feeling wonderful, with incredible peace and happiness. She felt united with the world and gained understanding about the universe. Her deceased grandmother's presence conveyed boundless love that never ends. The verifiable elements of her experience - accurately describing the surgery, identifying her sister-in-law's presence, and knowing about the death in the adjacent room - provided strong evidence for the reality of her NDE. The facts were checked and confirmed, though she maintained silence about the experience for a long time, fearing people might think she was seeking attention.
