At age two, Willem fell into water and experienced a near-drowning incident. The shock of falling caused him to take two deep breaths, filling his lungs with salt water. As he began to drown, he experienced leaving his body and entering what felt like an upward spiral or tunnel. The environment had a blue-green light, possibly from the water, and was filled with a peaceful, indescribable sound that was not music but had a heavenly quality.
Upon arriving at his destination, Willem encountered a "person in light" who was waiting for him. This luminous being took him by the hand, and they stood together in complete unity and equality. The experience felt like returning home - not just arriving home, but recognizing THIS WAS HOME in the deepest sense. The bond between Willem and the being of light was characterized by pure, boundaryless love and a sense of complete belonging. The person in light then told Willem he had to return to his body. Despite his strong desire to stay in this place of perfect love and home, he was ordered to go back because there were "things for him to do down there." The command was absolute, leaving no room for negotiation. Suddenly, Willem found himself back in his body, observing from outside as people on the roadside worked frantically to remove water from his lungs. The experience left Willem with lasting effects, including various paranormal abilities that seemed normal to him but set him apart from others. He describes feeling like "Harry Potter - a wizard in a world of muggles," having to navigate a reality that was fundamentally different from what others experienced.
