Victoria, a sheriff's sergeant, was responding to a hostile crowd call with weapons when she crashed at 90 mph avoiding vehicles that wouldn't yield. Her car flipped five times, throwing her over thirty feet. She broke 32 bones and had massive internal injuries and head trauma. Knowing she would die, she surrendered to God. She observed from above as they moved her onto a spine board, thinking "man that's got to hurt" while watching herself. She saw paramedics working with a BVM mask and told them to hurry because she didn't have long. She was airlifted to Duke Medical Center and remained in a coma until October 17th. During the coma, she experienced watching herself like a film projector, with images speeding up uncontrollably. She found herself drowning on duty, searching for her father. She saw rays of sunshine through trees but her cat Scarlet (dead 5 years) kept tripping her. Then in a dark basement with the Special Response team calling her name outside, serpents fell from the rafters. A golden light appeared through a doorway with stairs leading up. A voice said "If you believe, they cannot hurt you" and again "If you have faith and believe, they cannot harm you." Her fear vanished, and as she took the first step toward the light, she woke from her coma to find the chaplain praying. She believes she was bound for hell but given a choice. The experience made her certain God exists and knows her name, transforming her from slightly to greatly religious.
