Vera went for a morning run with her friend but only made it one block before feeling faint. Unable to climb her friend's porch steps, she sat down and asked for water before telling her friend to get her mother, then passed out. She experienced an eternity of nothingness with no memories, no sense of self, and no knowing. Suddenly she was traveling through space surrounded by stars, heading toward a pure white light. She then found herself in a clearing or field surrounded by trees with hundreds or thousands of people around her. Despite not recognizing anyone, she felt like they all knew each other, filled with peace, happiness, and belonging. Everyone was talking and laughing with joy. After what felt like a very long time, everything faded. A Puerto Rican man appeared standing on pink and gold tinted clouds, smiling and extending his hand. Getting her hand to move was the hardest thing she ever did, but she trusted him. As pure love flooded around her, their hands were about to touch when she woke up. She had no memory initially, not recognizing her best friend or friend's mother. The friend's mother, a recent medical school graduate, said she had a seizure and was unconscious for about 20 seconds. The experience was life-changing, leading to belief in a creator and afterlife, making her care more for life and wanting to better herself and others.
