In 1998, Tish experienced her first near-death experience after an allergic reaction to medication. Awakened by her partner who gave her medication, she left her body and viewed herself from above, seeing herself no longer breathing. Despite her body's death, she felt warm, peaceful, and fearless. She then walked down a path toward a tunnel with bright light at the end. Entering the tunnel, she saw cloudy, indistinct shadow figures, but recognized one as her deceased mother through an intuitive knowing similar to how smells trigger memories. As an adult, she found herself calling her "Mommy."
Her mother took her hand and led her to the tunnel's edge into the light, revealing endless green rolling fields and an impossibly blue sky with colors beyond earthly experience. They communicated telepathically without words, through pure thought exchange. Her mother told her it wasn't her time and she needed to return. Despite Tish's mental protests, she was sent back. When she awoke, she thought only hours had passed but discovered she'd been unconscious for several days following a stroke caused by medication overdose. The veridical elements include viewing her non-breathing body from above and the extended time gap - believing hours had passed when it had been days. Her visual perception was remarkably enhanced; despite wearing glasses since age seven, she could see perfectly without them during the experience. Her mother also appeared without the glasses she had worn in life. She noted heightened senses including grass-growing sounds and transparent, pulsating orbs of various colors in the otherworldly realm. This experience profoundly transformed Tish's beliefs and eliminated her fear of death. She gained certainty about continuation after physical death, understanding that "nothing dies, it just transforms" and that souls continue evolving. She also experienced past life memories and recognition of others who shared those past lives. The experience led to greater compassion, less fear in living, and special gifts she'd had since childhood became more pronounced.
