In July 1972, young Heather attempted to retrieve her brother's toy boat from the deep end of a pool and began drowning. As she sank below the surface, she suddenly found herself outside her body, watching her "little self" slowly sinking to the bottom. She experienced incredible calm, no fear or pain, and a blanket of warmth. From her out-of-body perspective, she observed her father remove his shirt and dive into the water to rescue her.
She doesn't remember being pulled from the water - her next memory is lying on the cement beside the pool being resuscitated. The experience left her with lasting peace and eliminated her fear of death. Raised as a Jehovah's Witness, she later rejected those teachings and embarked on her own spiritual path, retaining the profound peace from her NDE and longing for "home." --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Clear out-of-body experience demonstrating consciousness separate from the physical body. The profound peace and warmth could represent divine presence. Observing her father's rescue from outside her body shows veridical perception. The lasting spiritual transformation and loss of death fear align with encountering eternal reality. Unbiblical elements: Rejection of Jehovah's Witness teachings (which themselves contain unbiblical doctrines) led to an undefined personal spiritual path rather than biblical Christianity. The concept of longing for "home" is compatible with biblical heaven, though her current beliefs are unclear.
