Sally experienced a pulmonary embolism that caused severe chest crushing sensations and inability to breathe. She called for help at her sister's house and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. During the ambulance ride, she had her first NDE where she found herself in a long hallway resembling a hotel corridor with doors on both sides. At the end was a door with brilliantly bright light seeping out from all sides. She had no body, just consciousness, and heard a roaring sound like a jet engine before traveling at incredible speed toward the light door, though she could not get closer to it. She felt complete peace and acceptance.
At the hospital with an oxygen mask, she experienced the same NDE again - identical hallway, door, and light. This time she felt her body beginning to lift out of the hospital bed before a doctor arrived and the experience ended. She spent a week in ICU and another week in general hospital before discharge on Thanksgiving Day. Biblical Assessment Summary: This experience contains classic biblical elements of transition between life and death. The long hallway with multiple doors echoes Jesus' words about "many rooms in my Father's house" (John 14:2). The brilliant unearthly light at the end corresponds to biblical descriptions of God's glory and the light of heaven. The profound peace and acceptance align with biblical promises of God's peace.
