One Tuesday evening in February 2006, Robert felt ill with flu-like symptoms while watching TV around 4:15 pm. He ran to the bathroom feeling the need to vomit but nothing happened. About two minutes later, he experienced a sensation he'd never felt before - his whole insides coming up like an eruption, though nothing emerged. He then lost consciousness from approximately 4:45 pm until his wife found him at 5:25 pm, still on his knees by the toilet.
During his unconscious period, Robert found himself on a beautiful beach with an incredibly bright sky and white sand where everything was peaceful. A figure appeared in the distance that looked like a lady holding a child by the hand. The figure waved at him once, then again, and said "No, go back." When he regained consciousness, he was extremely weak and frightened, crawling out of the bathroom just as his wife arrived home from work, at which point he finally vomited in the hallway. No veridical observations were reported. The experience consisted entirely of the beach vision with the woman and child figure who told him to go back. Though the experience seemed to last only about thirty seconds, approximately forty minutes had passed while he was unconscious. Robert shared this experience only with his wife and three family members before submitting it to NDERF. The brief encounter left him with a lasting impression, though he was marked the event as an illness not considered life-threatening. The identity of the figures remained unknown to him. Biblical Assessment: This brief experience contains imagery that could be interpreted through a biblical lens. The beautiful, peaceful beach with bright light may represent a glimpse of paradise or heavenly realm. The figure of a woman with a child who directs him to return could potentially be interpreted as a guardian angel or heavenly messenger, though the specific identity remains unclear. The command to "go back" aligns with numerous NDE accounts where individuals are told their time has not yet come, reflecting the biblical principle that God determines the length of our days (Job 14:5).
