In 2009, during a heart test, Rhonda told the doctor she was going to lose consciousness. She felt herself leave her body slowly through her feet. The last thing she saw was the doctor jumping up from his chair before she fell over on the bed. She then found herself in complete darkness.
Once Rhonda realized she was in the darkness, a brilliant white light came to her, described as "white as snow." The light was approaching her when she suddenly returned to her body. She describes feeling fine once she realized she was in utter darkness, and as soon as she had this realization, the light appeared. The entire experience left her with a deep knowing that God is real, the biblical darkness is real, and the Light is real. No veridical observations were reported beyond seeing the doctor jump up, which occurred before losing consciousness. The experience consisted primarily of darkness followed by the appearance of brilliant white light. There was no reported dialogue or specific information gained during the experience. Since this experience, Rhonda has grown closer to God, attends church regularly, volunteers, and mentors youth. She has developed a deeper faith and knows with certainty that her experience was real. When she thinks about it, she can still feel both the darkness and the light, with the light being more significant to her. She wonders what would have happened if the light had reached her but believes it wasn't her time.
