On November 3, 1993, Pedro was shot in the right parietal area of his head while helping someone being assaulted, causing significant brain mass loss. Initially conscious, he felt his body becoming lighter and left his physical form. Declared near death in the ER, paramedic colleagues transported him to Santiago. During intubation in the ambulance, he entered a dark void existing as pure thought without body. He then flew like an eagle over green hills before approaching a bright light that led to a fenced area guarded by Roman soldier-like beings who refused entry. He saw people moving in the protected area. While hospitalized, he saw two deceased friends at his bedside - a police colonel dead years from cancer and an ambulance driver. His wife later confirmed the driver had just died of cancer, which Pedro didn't know. Pedro gained understanding that we exist through thought first, with physical reality being secondary.
