In 1976, five-year-old Muzaffer went with family and friends to an ocean beach at Karatas. Despite poor weather, everyone went swimming. Unable to swim and being very short, Muzaffer was pulled by waves into deep water 2-3 times his height. Looking up from underwater, he saw the surface and waves rolling over him, feeling pushed and pulled by currents. After passing out underwater, he felt himself moving upward to about 10 meters above the water. Looking down, he saw a hand in the water (his own hand where his body was floating) without initially realizing it was his. He observed a young man lift his body and bring it to shore. His last memory was being held upside down by the legs and shaken. During the experience, he felt totally relaxed, at peace, with heightened consciousness and incredibly fast thoughts. Everything seemed to happen at once. Thirty years later, he still tells everyone about the experience, doesn't fear death, and has learned to be more focused and at ease in life. He realized after learning about NDEs that he has lived a positive life without fear of death since the experience.
