Four-year-old Martina was playing by a lake with a wooden stick while her father walked nearby with her two-year-old brother. Despite her father's warning not to go closer to the water, her curiosity led her to play at the water's edge, making the stick splash. When she dropped it and tried to reach for it, she fell into the lake. She went straight down, feeling the water was heavy and her arms were heavy. As she descended deeper, it became darker, though she could still see gray water around her.
While drowning, Martina saw fish looking at her and watching her drown, thinking it was cool to see fish so close and clearly remembering she would never forget this. She then saw a small shadow with long hair like hers floating beside her. Everything went black, and she saw a strange shadowy path with tiny shadowy lights floating around. She wasn't walking or floating but felt as if someone was carrying her. The shadowy lights grew bigger and brighter as she moved through the path. She asked herself if she was still underwater but felt no pain or breathlessness, only wanting to see why it was so bright. She saw and felt a presence reaching for her - no face or body, just shadowy lines in a V-shape, all in white. At that moment, she felt pushed away as if sucked out of a tube. Martina heard her father's voice saying she would be okay. She opened her eyes and immediately asked about the fish in the lake, saying she saw tons of them looking at her strangely. She had been underwater for almost five minutes, and when found, she wasn't breathing. Her father saved her life that day. Since then, Martina reports having a "sixth sense," feeling things others can't feel, dreaming of future events, and having heightened sensitivity to others' emotions. She finds it difficult to get close to people because she can quickly figure them out and feels what others feel around her. After years of silence about the experience, she only recently shared it after seeing a movie about similar experiences. She also mentioned a prior near-death incident at age two when her mother drove into a ravine and crashed, with Martina found alive under the back seat. Biblical Assessment: Young Martina's drowning experience contains elements that could align with biblical accounts of divine intervention in children's lives.
