Magdalena M experienced a near-death event the day after her third C-section on January 26, 2005, when everything had gone wrong. Medical staff were making her walk despite feeling very weak. As she walked with support from a doctor, nurse, and relatives, she felt increasingly awful and suddenly lost all strength. She experienced painful chest pressure, then began having convulsions. Medical records showed her blood pressure and glucose dropped to 20.
During the crisis, something powerful threw her backwards at great speed into a very dark tunnel. Initially frightened, she then began floating forward inside the tunnel and started feeling much better. She could see a golden light at the end of the tunnel, like a beautiful sunset. She felt light, flighty, and happier than ever before in her life, experiencing more peace than she had ever known. As she approached the light, she could see silhouettes waiting for her. Everything was peace and happiness. Suddenly Magdalena could not move forward anymore, feeling something stopping her and grabbing her hand. She thought of her newborn baby and her two other daughters. She returned as quickly as she had left. From her out-of-body perspective, she could see everybody helping - administering injections and other interventions. Her husband was holding her hand extremely tightly and begging "Don't go, don't go!" She knew his grip and pleas were what stopped her from continuing into the light. Upon return, she heard her blood pressure and glucose were at critically low levels of 20. The experience left Magdalena profoundly changed. She is happy she returned but believes death cannot be that bad if it resembles what she experienced. Her faith became stronger following the NDE. She gained a sense that there is something in the afterlife and that we are here for a reason. When she has shared the experience, some people were interested while others made no comments, and some even joked that the golden (not white) light meant she was going to hell. Despite this, she continues to feel the experience was absolutely real. From a biblical perspective, this experience contains classic NDE elements including the tunnel, approaching light, and peaceful emotions that align with many biblical and theological accounts of the afterlife transition. The family's love pulling her back demonstrates the spiritual bonds that transcend physical death.
