Five-year-old Lorraine experienced cardiac arrest in an ambulance after developing severe illness with stomach pains and fever spike. Terrified of ambulances since her great-grandmother's recent death, she became hysterical and required her mother to ride along. Halfway to the hospital, she left her body and found herself standing in the air, watching the ambulance drive away without her.
At an intersection, she saw her father driving toward the hospital but couldn't make him notice her. Feeling alone and unrecognized, she decided to go home to grandmother. Moving rapidly, she accidentally arrived at a grocery store where her uncle was shopping. Neither he nor her aunt in the car outside could see her. She discovered she could pass through the glass door without opening it. Sitting in their car to ride home, she realized with clarity that she had died. Finding she could fly, Lorraine soared joyfully over neighborhood houses. Landing in a schoolyard gym, she watched students playing sports, then began rising toward a small black opening above. Flying rapidly through a pitch-black tunnel with wind sounds, she emerged into warm, loving light that felt alive. She heard beautiful music and entered the light, feeling secure and home. She found herself in a lush world with brilliant blue sky, colored stones never seen before, and a road. Her great-grandmother appeared, appearing much wiser than in life and emanating warmth. She told Lorraine the decision to stay or return was hers, but returning would be better. After exploring briefly, Lorraine thought of her parents and decided to return, knowing she would see this world again someday. The light then communicated telepathically, showing her future pictures including her future husband who would survive a serious mycotic lung infection. She saw doctors, nuns, and nurses she would meet years later. The light said she would forget the NDE details but remember them later, and everything would be alright. After returning through darkness to her body in the ambulance, she awoke at the hospital where a nun asked about the light and darkness, thinking it was a dream. Years later, everything happened as shown, including meeting and marrying the man from her vision who did survive the exact illness shown. Biblical Assessment: This childhood NDE contains elements consistent with biblical accounts - the otherworldly realm of beauty, deceased relatives in a paradise-like setting, and accurate prophetic visions that came to pass. The great-grandmother's wisdom and advice to return aligns with divine providence. However, the experience lacks explicit Christian imagery or mention of God/Jesus, remaining more spiritually neutral than specifically biblical.
