Lisa H was fatally injured in a boat accident at night on a lake. She was struck by debris, knocked unconscious, and drowned. She remained unresponsive for 28 minutes while being transported to shore. Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to University of Missouri Medical Center, where she spent 28 days in a coma on life support. Doctors believed she would not survive or would be severely brain damaged.
During her NDE, Lisa left her body and observed the scene from above. She could see the paramedics, driver, and her daughter in the ambulance. She felt the emotions of her husband and children who were 100 miles away trying to reach her. She encountered two angelic beings of light, described as 8 feet tall with Mediterranean skin and dark blue piercing eyes, wearing long robes. They escorted her from the lake into a brilliant light. The light was described as pure love and warmth that created the light itself, emanating from Jesus. In this light, she became all-knowing, with knowledge that continues to unfold. She experienced no pain or animosity, gaining total understanding of her entire life as it played before her. She saw deceased loved ones appearing as energy forms like thousands of candles burning, not in physical form. Communication occurred through telepathy rather than speech. Lisa experienced a beautiful cloud surrounded by golden white light with rainbow colors flashing inside. She felt incredible peace, joy, and unity with the universe. She received special knowledge about her purpose - to return to earth to teach others not to fear life or death, bringing light into the world. She was shown future scenes including meeting grandchildren and a future daughter. She knew she needed to return for her 15-year-old daughter Hannah and was told she had work to do. Upon return, Lisa experienced significant aftereffects. She transitioned from Catholic to spiritual beliefs, understanding that all paths lead to God. She developed psychic abilities including channeling messages from beings of light and mediumship. She wrote a book about her experience in 2008 and relocated to California where people were more receptive to her message. Biblical Assessment: The experience contains both biblical and non-biblical elements. Orthodox aspects include encountering angelic beings, experiencing divine light and love associated with Jesus, seeing deceased relatives, and receiving a life review. However, problematic elements include universal salvation beliefs ("all paths lead to God"), development of psychic/mediumship abilities, and new age spiritual concepts rather than traditional Christian theology.
