Linda, 15, was walking with a friend after school when a drunk driver struck her from behind. She experienced severe trauma including concussion, internal injuries, and broken bones. Immediately after impact, she found herself floating in a black void, fully conscious of her identity but detached from her body. She felt excitement and intense joy as she moved forward through the darkness. Upon reaching a barrier, she was told to return, experiencing bitter disappointment. The return felt like falling from a great height into hell, terrifying and uncomfortable. She re-entered her body realizing she was screaming "Let me die!" to medical personnel. Recovery took nearly ten years. The experience taught her that consciousness exists outside the body, removing her fear of death.
