In June 2010, Kathleen M experienced complications after surgery that led to severe stomach bloating and chest pains. She told medical staff she was having a heart attack and was going to die. When asked whom to call, she experienced an out-of-body perspective, looking through what seemed like a big window from the outside. She saw many people mulling around - some together, some alone - all appearing as black shadows at a distance. No one spoke or looked her way. The scene included trees and grass, but everything was covered in a pink hue, including the shadow people. They seemed neither happy nor sad, and she had no communication with them. When she regained consciousness, she realized these were all her deceased loved ones who had gone before her. She wished she could have seen them more clearly and talked with them. Upon coming to, she saw a nurse accidentally knock a drainage container off the wall, breaking it and causing improper drainage that had led to her bloating and chest pains. Once properly reconnected, the drainage resumed and her pain subsided. The experience convinced her there is more after death and motivated her to make preparations for her family. She later saw the movie "The Hereafter" which shocked her with its similar imagery to her experience, further confirming its reality.
