During childbirth on July 10, 2002, Denise had been sucking on nitrous oxide continuously overnight unsupervised with the gas turned to maximum. During the final episode when they lost the baby's heartbeat, she experienced an NDE. She traveled through space at great speed after losing fear, speeding through a black void with small lights like stars around her. She entered an all-encompassing warm light of total love and knowledge. She experienced a life review focusing on addictive behaviors and repeated patterns, even going back to see herself in the womb. She was told to "remember" and shown future decisions and happenings. She was given the opportunity to view the universe and become one with it, gaining knowledge that time is simultaneous, the universe is infinite with many dimensions, and that ultimately all there is is love. She understood we exist on one plane among many, comparing it to ants being unaware of humans. The experience emphasized being in the NOW, getting rid of distractions and destructive behaviors, and being our best selves for others. She didn't want to return but chose to for her two young children and unborn baby. In the form of her parents, she was told "When will you learn the lesson. Don't take your baby with you."
